Interesting Facts -

George Olney Buck was the youngest son of Henry Buck of Maine, who settled in South Carolina around 1828. George was the brother of Capt. Henry Lee Buck, Sr. and the half-brother of William L. Buck.

George was named after a friend of his father, George Washington Olney (1789-1880), who was born in Providence, Rhode Island and moved to Charleston after the WBTS where he established himself as a Commission Merchant.

George O. Buck served the Confederacy as a cadet at the Citadel (the Military College of South Carolina) in Charleston, South Carolina during the WBTS. In 1865 he died of pneumonia at the Citadel.
