Interesting Facts -

John Nelson Dawsey enlisted on 10 May 1862 in Georgetown, S.C. with his brother, Daniel Wilson Dawsey, who died during the war. He enlisted in Co. B, Tuckers Cavalry which subsequently became Company F, 7th Regiment SC Cavalry.  Listed as “acting teamster to detachment”, meaning that he drove the supply wagon and therefore detached from his unit. John Nelson Dawsey was a farmer and known all over the county as a "horse trader." He knew and loved horses, and was known to have sat on his horse straight and most dignified.
