Interesting Facts -

In 1845 the signature of Cephas Gilbert was on a Petition for funds to be applied for the construction of a plank road between Conwayborough and Fair Bluff, N.C. In 1887 he was paid for dredging of the mouth of the Sampit River in Georgetown. Cephas also invented a collar to protect sheep from dogs (patented June 18, 1878).
