Interesting Facts -

William Cortenas Gore volunteered for service at age 18. He appears on a Roll of Honor from September 4, 1863. Assigned daily duty of setting lights at Confederate Battery. Listed as a Boatman from October 1st to October 21, 1863 at Fort Caswell, N.C. Wounded and captured at Fort Fisher, N.C. on January 15th, 1865. Held at Point Lookout, MD until he was released after pledging an Oath of Allegiance on May 13, 1865, listed as a farmer on Prisoners Roll.
