A Confederate Soldier that served in Co E, 26th SC Infantry, CSA. Enlisted Oct. 21, 1864 in CSA. He was hospitalized, then captured 4-3-1865 in Richmond, VA, turned over to Provost Marshall 4-21-1865. Transferred from Libby POW Prison, Richmond to Newport News, VA 4-23-1865. Took the Oath of Allegiance at Newport News, 6-15-1865. He is listed as having dark complexion, dark hair & dark eyes & 5 ft. 9 inches tall. He was called by his middle name 'Byrd' Jenkins.
