Interesting Facts -

Joseph ("Joe") was the brother of Moses Floyd Sarvis and Samuel Scarborough Sarvis.

In an 1861 letter by John R. Beaty, Beaty refers to Joe as the one in their mess that made the others laugh.

By order of Generals Polk, Pillow and Bragg, Sarvis was detached from his unit from January through December of 1863 on a recruiting mission in Horry District. Reported sick "in country" in Tupelo, Mississippi in June of 1862. In October of 1862, mustered in Knoxville, Tennessee. In November 1862, mustered in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. KIA at Battle of Atlanta on July 28, 1864.
