Interesting Facts -

After the WBTS Jeremiah Smith served as/in: Trial Justice (Magistrate), S.C. House of Representatives, S.C. Constitutional Convention, S.C. Senate and mayor of Conway, S.C. In the late 1890s he moved from his farm in Socastee to Conway and operated the Commercial Hotel on Main Street. In 1889 he attended the memorial services for Jefferson Davis in New Orleans as part of a committe of five legislators representing South Carolina. Jeremiah Smith was the last Confederate veteran to serve in the S.C. State Senate.
