Interesting Facts -

Listed as wounded with a concussion on Morris Island, S.C. from Aug 20- Sept 6, 1863. When soldier James T. Booth was sentenced to death for desertion (he went home to see his sick wife), Elisha Tyler intervened.  He begged them not to shoot Booth, that he was a good man with 3 small children at home.  The captain agreed to a pardon, if Tyler could get a commanding officer to agree.  Tyler rode his horse until he got the signature, therefore saving Booth’s life.
